What's the website about? 

The subject of bullying is very close to my heart because I was bullied at school. I have also worked with many young people who have been affected by bullying.

    I would like this to be a place of safety, where you can gain some ideas of what to do if you or someone you know is being bullied. Suggestions of where to go for help, as well as having a little fun at the same time. However I do not intend to run an open forum and will be selective about the ideas that are shared.

    Are you being bullied?

    It is common to feel all alone when you are being bullied, that no one understands, and that you don't know where to turn for help.

    Matt, the main character of 'Matty-boy and the Secret Pigeon Racket', is being fostered, and has had to move in with a new family and go to a new school. As well as the many changes in his life, he also gains the unwelcome attention of the school bully but doesn't know who he can trust to tell about it.

    If you have any positive suggestions of things that have helped you when you were being bullied, please feel free to contact me.

    Who is Matt?

     

    Matt is 8 years old, loves football and supports Norwich City FC. On his first visit to meet his new foster family the Joys, he wonders what the raggedy bundle is that he finds sitting on the window ledge of his soon-to-be new bedroom.

    After meeting this 'raggedy bundle' Matt begins a new adventure, trying things he never dreamt of or thought he would get the chance to try, and makes a new friend as well as becoming a local hero.

    If you read the story, you will be able to see how Matt copes with the bullying and what he decides to do.

     

    What is Matty-boy and the Secret Pigeon Racket about?

    Here is a little info about what you can expect.                                              

    'Ever wished you could be a rock star?
    Ever day dreamed about your team winning the cup or the league?
    Ever wished that something magical would happen to you?
        Matt is a lonely young boy, who uses his imagination to cope with the challenges in his life on a daily - if not hourly - basis.
        Matt has been fostered into an eccentric new family the Joys, and has to change his home, school and friends once again. At the Joy's he discovers and befriends Percy a scruffy, injured talking pigeon who has run away from his own family - the pigeon mafia - also known as the Secret Pigeon Racket.
        Together they deal with issues of friendship, bullying, family and loss - and solve a royal kidnapping plot too!
        Have you ever noticed a pigeon spying on you? No? Well take a closer look, you may be surprised!'
